Applied Mathematics

Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers

The Applied Mathematics Group offers many opportunities for exciting postdoctoral research. The members in our group have expertise is a number of fields such as Complex Fluids, Soft-Condensed Matter Physics, Multiscale Analysis, Nanosciences, Calculus of Variations, Numerical Analysis, Materials Science, Stochastic Analysis, Mathematical Biology, and Scientific Computing.

One of the key aspects of the Applied Mathematics Group is its interdisciplinary nature, which is enhanced by a large number of opportunities for interactions across campus at UCSB. The members of our group are core faculty of the Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Program, and maintain close collaborations with faculty in departments of Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Chemistry. At UCSB there are many annual programs at research centers on campus which attract a large number of international researchers, and in which UCSB faculty, postdocs, and students often participate. These centers include the Materials Research Lab (MRL), the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics (KITP), and the California Nanosystems Institute (CNSI). The Applied Mathematics Group also has a partnership with the Complex Fluids Design Consortium.

The Applied Mathematics Group welcomes you to apply to the Visiting Assistant Professor Program in the Department of Mathematics or consult the faculty webpages concerning special positions. Please see the Department of Mathematics website for important deadlines and additional information.
