Description. Math 220B is the second quarter of the yearlong
graduate algebra sequence. It is an introduction to rings and
modules.
Grading. The plan is to cover Chapters 2 and 4 of Grove. Weekly
homework assignments will be given. Your grade will be determined by
homework scores (including, possibly, some quizzes), a midterm and a
final exam. The final will most likely be takehome. The weights of
each of these are as follows.
Homework/Etc. Midterm Final
50% 20% 30%
Makeups: Makeups for exams will only be given with
documented Universityapproved excuses (see University Regulations).
ADA. Students with disabilities can get assistance from the
Disabled Students Program Office (8932668). I'm happy to work with
them and with you.
