Over 30 years since Jones' Index Theorem, the study of subfactors remains a vibrant field.
In recent years, exciting new connections have been made between subfactor theory, free probability, random matrices,
and conformal field theory. At the same time, through attempts to classify small index subfactors, exotic examples
have been discovered which demand new explanations, perhaps coming from the study of fusion categories or
vertex operator algebras.
This conference will feature both expository and research talks by experts from across von Neumann algebras and related fields.
Additionally, there will be lots of time reserved for informal interaction and collaboration. We will also celebrate the 60th birthday of Vaughan Jones.
Local information
Talks will likely be held at the University of Hawai'i Maui College.
Accommodation will be provided for interested participants in shared condos at the Maui Sunset in Kihei, HI.
The airport on Maui is Kahului Airport (OGG). We will help organize carpools from the airport to the Maui Sunset, and from the Maui Sunset to
UH Maui College, as the conference grows nearer.
