I plan to cover almost everything in the textbook. The main goal is to learn how to write mathematical proofs. Topics include: basic logic, relations, functions, mathematical induction, and cardinality.
The grade will be based on:
Some of these might be "curved" up if they are unexpectedly difficult. I will not curve any grades down. I might make adjustments for people who do badly on the midterm but do well on the final. You don't need to ask about this – I will decide what to do when I have all of the data.
Attending lectures and section is a requirement of the course. Please email me and your TA if you have to miss a class, for example, due to sickness or a sporting commitment.
You should read the book and keep ahead. The plan is to cover one or two sections per lecture.
