Speaker: David Wen Title: Zariski Decomposition and Beyond Abstract: The Zariski decomposition is a theorem by Zariski on effective divisors on smooth surfaces. It's very much a part of classical algebraic geometry by relating the geometry of a surface with the algebra of linear systems of divisors. Additionally, it plays a role in understanding the classification of surfaces as well as minimal models. In this talk, I will introduce the classical Zariski decomposition, generalizations and it's implication in algebraic geometry. |
