Course Grade: The final course grade will be determined by performance on homework and quizzes (25%), midterm examinations (25%), and the final examination (50%). Bonus credit (15%) will be proportionally awarded to the achievement of Mathematics 3A qualifying score on the Algebra Diagnostic Examination prior to the end of the Winter Quarter. These Examinations are offered at 7PM in Broida 1610 on Feb 12, 20 &, 28 and March 8. Homework must be presented in person during the Math 15 office hours on Thursdays from 9:30 11:30. Alternative submission at 7:30AM on Thursday is offered to students with conflicts.
AP Workshops provide a supplementary intensive work opportunity for students wishing to devote sustained and focused effort to success in the course. One additional unit of P/NP Math 91 credit is possible.
The Algebra Study Group will meet one each week for 90 minutes to work on challenging problems related to those in the course. These problems will offer students an opportunity to explore concepts in more depth and to attain a greater understanding of course content. Math 15 homework will not be discussed during these meetings, rather the emphasis will be upon strengthening the algebra skills of the participants.
