Homework 3 Solutions
First Midterm
The first midterm is Wens. Aug 20th in class. Bring a Blue book. You are allowed a 3X5 notecard (double sided)
with anything you want written on it. The midterm span the material we covered in chapters 1,2,3, and 6 from the text
Calculators will not be allowed (nor will they be necessary). Problems will be similar too, or will require the same
techniques as the homework problems.
Second Midterm
The second midterm is THURS. SEPT 4th in class. This is slightly different from the syllabus.
I changed it to avoid
mass confusion (it does say TENTATIVE dates). Bring a Blue book. You are allowed a 3X5 notecard (double sided)
with anything you want written on it. The midterm span the material we covered in chapters 5 and 7 from the text
Calculators will not be allowed (nor will they be necessary). Problems will be similar too, or will require the same
techniques as the homework problems.
Final
The final is thurs sept. 11th in class. Bring a Blue book. You are allowed a 3X5 notecard (double sided)
with anything you want written on it. The midterm will be cumulative, with emphasis on chapter 8.
Problems will consist of chapter 8 problems, that require material from previous chapters
i.e. a word problem where you have to maximize/minimize something, finding the equation of a tangent line, etc.
Calculators will not be allowed (nor will they be necessary). Problems will be similar too, or will require the same
techniques as the homework problems.
