Information for Instructors - Prerequisites

In Math 34B, and Math 3BC, 5ABC the prerequisite is a grade C or better in the previous class. The Mathematics Department will routinely waive this prerequisite in the following cases

1) If you are a graduate student.

2) If you are in College of Creative Studies.

3) If you are a transfer student from a college or university outside the US.

4) If the dean of your college makes such a request to the vice chair (stopple-AT-math.ucsb.edu).

The following are not valid reasons to waive the prerequisite, so please don't ask:

5) 'I feel I have a good understanding of the material.' (We have to go by your grade.)

6) 'I don't want to fall behind.' (We offer every class in summer school.)

7) 'My major department requires it.' (Ask your department to waive their own rules.)
