Abstract:
F-theory in a construction in string theory which is based on the
mathematics of elliptic fibrations. In a series of lectures this
fall, I will introduce both elliptic fibrations and the F-theory
construction to a mixed audience of beginners and experts, mathematicians
and physicists. The starting point will be the theory of elliptic
curves, which will be explained in a manner accessible to a broad audience.
Audio [ mp3,
wma ];
Lecture notes.
